I believe that most people have good hearts and good intentions. I believe that most people would like to see our world become a better place, and would like to help, but they don’t always know how. "I’m only one person," they say to themselves. "I’m nobody special. I have no influence, or very little money, or very little free time. What could I possibly do to change the world?"
Over the years, I’ve pondered these same questions, and I’ve thought long and hard about what I can do to make my life more meaningful. And I’ve discovered that the times I felt the best about myself, the most engaged with life, the most useful, and the most deeply rewarded were the times I was helping someone, inspiring someone, uplifting someone.
I have spent my entire adult life helping people one-on-one or in small groups, through counseling, coaching, teaching, and writing. Helping an individual is deeply rewarding, but I wanted to find a way to reach more people and help the world on a larger scale. Therefore, I have launched a project called "The Global Citizenship Project." What I hope to accomplish with this project is to start a chain reaction by demonstrating how many ways there are for all of us, no matter who we are, to make a difference. When one person goes out and does something to uplift people, these acts in turn can influence others to do something kind or helpful. And if enough people are inspired to act, pretty soon we’ve got an entire world helping each other instead of hurting each other.
How can we solve all of the problems the world is facing today? One individual at a time. By getting ourselves into the habit of thinking with global consciousness. The goal of "The Global Citizenship Project" is to help bring the world together in a spirit of cooperation, and to pass on this philosophy to future generations by teaching children that we’re all in this world together, we all have a responsibility towards our world, and we all have something to contribute. If we teach each child as he or she is growing up to think in terms of respecting and caring for themselves, their communities, and our planet as a whole, they will grow up valuing peace and unity.
I do not claim to have all the answers. There are many people in this world who are far wiser and more gifted than I am. But what I offer through this website and my monthly magazine is sincere and from the heart, and stems from a genuine desire to help each individual discover his or her own gifts and achieve her/his greatest happiness. If I can help someone take any positive step along their soul’s journey, no matter how great or how small, I am fulfilling my purpose for being here.
Each article I write or publish is not just a gift for you, but a gift for me as well. I am just as human as the next person, and I can just as easily get caught up in the day-to-day problems and dramas common in this world -- but when I focus on information that is empowering, it reminds me to stay aware, stay on track, keep a positive attitude, learn my lessons, keep evolving and growing, and embrace the Divine Light that is at the core of each and every one of us. Doing this work every day is making me a better person, bit by bit.
I love my job. And how many people can actually say that these days? (I meet people all the time who feel stuck and miserable in unsatisfying jobs that do not feed their souls!) My self-assigned "job" is to seek out information that contributes to the betterment of humanity, both individually and globally, and share it freely with as many people as possible.
I believe that we are all ONE. By helping you, I also help myself, and as we grow we each help the collective consciousness. We’re all evolving together, and it’s the sharing of the journey that strengthens us. My "mission," therefore, is to grow and learn as much as I can, so that I can share what I learn with others and hopefully assist in raising all of us to higher, happier, and healthier levels of consciousness.
I hope you enjoy reading the magazine every month, and I hope that the information I publish is making a positive contribution to your lives. I thank you for the opportunity to live the career of my dreams, and I wish all of you great joy and success in your personal journeys. I hope you will always REMEMBER that you are special, that this world would somehow be less without your unique presence, and that you are never alone, for we are all united in universal consciousness.
